Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Indirect Category Manager to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage key indirect categories that are crucial to the operational effectiveness of the business. The successful candidate will have the chance to work closely with budget holders and key stakeholders, developing and deploying sourcing strategies within a transformational environment. What you'll do:
As an Indirect Category Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing key indirect categories that are integral to our client's business operations. You will be responsible for leading procurement activities within your area, forging strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders alike. Your expertise will be crucial in leading contractual negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and conditions for the business. With your keen eye for identifying opportunities for cost reduction, you will contribute significantly towards achieving annual performance targets. Your strategic focus will enable you to develop and implement effective category strategies, driving value across the organisation.

  • Lead procurement activities within your area of responsibility, including managing workload and communicating supply risks
  • Forge strong working relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders
  • Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms & conditions
  • Manage the supplier selection process through to contract implementation
  • Ensure contractual agreements are met by monitoring performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and service
  • Contribute towards the Annual Procurement Plan and achievement of annual performance targets
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and share knowledge within the wider Procurement team
  • Develop and implement category strategies in conjunction with appropriate stakeholders

What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Indirect Category Manager role brings a wealth of procurement experience, particularly from an indirect procurement background. You possess excellent teamwork ethics and have a natural ability to build strong relationships. Your understanding of risk identification within the supply chain process is second-to-none, as is your capability to lead negotiation processes independently. With a solid understanding of contract law, you are experienced in drafting contracts and negotiating terms and conditions of business. Your thorough understanding and application of leading procurement tools and techniques will be invaluable in this role.

  • Proven procurement experience, preferably from a strong indirect procurement background
  • Excellent teamwork ethic with a natural ability to develop strong relationships
  • Good understanding of identifying risks within the supply chain process
  • Capability of independently leading the negotiation process and building a negotiation chronology
  • Strong understanding of contract law and experience within contract drafting and negotiation of Terms & Conditions of business
  • Thorough understanding and application of leading Procurement Tools & Techniques
