Research Grants Officer

Your new company
I am working with a charity based in the heart of London, and we are looking for a Research Grants Officer to join the team ASAP. There has been an increase in investment into the world of medical research, so growth in the team is required! The purpose of the role is to strengthen the grants management process and administration of the research portfolio. You will be helping the charity grow their capacity to fund more projects.

Your new role
The successful candidate will:

  • Preparing funding schemes for launch, including website/social media publicity and co-ordination through relevant research stakeholders.
  • Prepare and update changes to application forms and the respective guidance documentation for applicants.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for all applicant enquiries throughout the assessment process.
  • Support the Research Grants Manager in selecting and contacting high-quality peer reviewers for all grant applications and ensure transparent assessment processes are followed.
  • Processing and recording of grant payments and assisting the Research Grants Manager with budget forecasts.
  • Issue and collect interim reports from grant holders and assist the Research Grants Manager to assess the impact of the research performed.
  • Assisting the Research Grants Manager implement and update relevant best practice procedures to ensure a transparent and robust assessment process. Also assist with wider funding policy issues associated with governance.

What you'll need to succeed
This position is ideal for someone who:

  • Advanced IT skills of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and research management software such as Flexi Grant
  • Ideally, experience of grants management and the processes involved in pre- and post-grant administration or other relevant experience
  • Experience of writing formal minutes
  • Experience of preparing reports and papers
  • Excellent multitasking, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with senior academics
