Financial Accountant (fixed-term)

We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join a large, modern and growing business in Bury St Edmunds, initially on a fixed-term contract for 6 months. This role is integral to their financial operations, focusing on ensuring the accuracy of our management accounts and the integrity of our balance sheet accounting. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in troubleshooting processes, improving controls, and ensuring compliance with both internal and external audits.
The role:
- Conducting complex reconciliations, identifying variances, and working collaboratively to resolve discrepancies.
- Reviewing and enhancing financial processes and procedures to optimise efficiency without compromising control.
- Financial and sales analysis.
- Participating in project management to ensure timely delivery of finance-based projects.
- Assisting with operational or accounting project initiatives and providing ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making.
- Maintaining financial records and systems in line with GAAP principles and ensuring robust internal controls are in place.
What we are looking for:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience in controls, governance, audit, ethics, and risk management.
- Advanced Excel.
- Working knowledge of major ERP or integrated accounting packages, and BI Tools.
- Experience in testing and implementing new software.
- Large company experience.
- Highly adaptable, with excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong planning, organisational, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
