Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit Customer Service Advisors to join the Housing Repairs team. Birmingham City Council provides the city's residents with a number of services to ensure stability within citizens' daily lives.

Your new role

As a Customer Service Advisor, you will be helping customers to maintain their properties by reporting emergency or non-emergency repairs in line with these agreements between the council and contractors. Housing Repairs also assist and provide information to the Rents service in order for tenants to keep up with their rental payments and other responsibilities such as council tax, so that the council can support them.
This is a call-centre environment, so there is an expectation to answer calls from service users and help them with the queries that they have. Working hours are shifts between the hours of 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday with a 15-minute break and 30-minute lunch break - both unpaid. This is a full-time post but part-time. It can be made available upon request. Staff will be working from home following an induction day at the Council House, Victoria Square, then there is a 5-6-week academy training programme which will be mandatory training in Council House, Victoria Square.
In the future, you will be asked to work from home. Training will be classroom training for day one and then over Microsoft Teams with an experienced trainer. No annual leave or appointments can be approved during the first 8 weeks of training.

What you'll need to succeed

All candidates will be assessed during training and will also be required to complete legal paperwork in order to access data-protected systems. Candidates will be required to disclose their criminal history and could affect their ability to be successful in the role.

Candidates are required to have a good Wi-Fi signal with a suitable workstation to enable future working from home for the foreseeable future. Training and support will continue to be available on an ongoing basis. Candidates will also be asked to bring proof of ID on day one of the training (proof of residency and address) and staff will also be asked to sign and agree to care for BCC equipment.
In addition, this role will be a start ASAP. Before starting you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks. On registration please have your 2 most recent employment details available for reference checks.

What you'll get in return

This is a full-time, temporary role based in Birmingham. This is an ongoing contract but may be open to extension. This role is a Grade 2 position, with a rate of £12 per hour (PAYE).
Due to the council going through a period of transition, permanent opportunities may be available.
