Their aim is to develop enduring relationships with their customers, and are firmly committed to understanding and delivering particular business needs.

We are excited to be supporting our Client's requirement of a Chemical Process Engineer to support a large customer site in Teesside.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, commissioning, and optimising pilot plants and bespoke process development equipment as well as site utility & infrastructure assets.
  • Execute and lead process engineering design activities, following company standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Project Manager, to deliver the capital programme for our Teesside businesses and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations, process engineering datasheets and drawings.
  • Develop process engineering designs, including pressure relief systems, heat and mass balances, process specifications, P&ID development and process safety design.
  • Check & approve process engineering calculations.
  • Lead process hazard assessments and other technical risk assessments (including Hazard Studies, LoPA & Area Classification).
  • Collaborate with & give quality technical advice to internal customers such as our R&D teams.
  • Provide process engineering support for pilot plants, bespoke process development equipment and site infrastructure (including gas storage & distribution systems, steam systems, and a compressor house).
  • Provide process engineering and risk management advice.
  • Provide technical input as part of the Emergency Response Team in the event of a Major Incident.
  • Provide awareness training & validation for the wider technical community.

About you

The successful candidate will be a degree qualified Chemical Engineer with experience in similar role in a Manufacturing facility, either as a staff member or working through a third party.

You will be a self-starter, who thrives in a dynamic environment subject to changing needs.

It will be important to be a strong communicator, comfortable interacting with & leading many different stakeholders
