Interim Indirect Tax Manager

Robert Half have been exclusively engaged to recruit the best immediately available Indirect Tax Manager on an interim basis for a large FMCG multinational in Reading.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise ("SME") on all VAT related issues.
  • Act as SME for all UK VAT related issues with a working knowledge of European VAT issues.
  • Manage the relationship with HMRC and expedite overdue repayment claims.
  • Ensure UK VAT grouping project is completed on time.
  • Provide advice on the VAT aspects of the ERP implementation.
  • Assist with the ERP remediation program by identifying VAT compliance issues and facilitating their remediation.
  • Advise on the VAT aspects of the tolling model, including the Supply Chain Principal with multiple EU VAT registrations.
  • Provide oversight and coordination over E-invoicing requirements globally to ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Lead the continued documentation of VAT processes and controls.
  • Provide advice and ad-hoc reviews to the Global Business Services operation in a European region to ensure VAT processes and controls are working adequately.
  • Manage and resolve indirect tax issues arising from transformation initiatives such as global ERP implementation and shared service center.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external advisors to interpret and advise on tax matters.

Experience & Skills

  • Solid experience working in an international tax department in a supply chain/manufacturing environment dealing with indirect tax issues.
  • Qualified UK accountant, tax advisor (CTA), or lawyer specializing in taxation with a focus on indirect taxation.
  • Experience working on large global transformation projects, including developing an effective VAT strategy that manages global compliance and reporting as well as VAT advisory.
  • Experience implementing policies and ensuring best practice approaches.
  • Ability to travel within Europe on an ad-hoc basis.
