Our client, a prestigious 7-partner firm in the West-End of London and the Midlands, is seeking an Accounts Manager. Specialising in the international entertainment and media industry, they offer unique opportunities to develop rare skills in accountancy and tax advisory. Role Objectives

  • Manage the day-to-day affairs of a portfolio of clients.
  • Work directly with Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners.
  • Review Financial Statements, Corporation Tax Returns, VAT returns, management accounts, and other client requirements.
  • Engage in substantial client interaction, speaking with clients daily.
  • Provide training and support to staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients.
  • Serve as the primary contact for some clients' accounts, tax, and general matters.
  • Ensure all client deadlines are known and met.
  • Liaise with clients regarding their deadlines and other requirements.
  • Assist clients with ad-hoc financial questions, including result interpretation.
  • Help clients set up and develop internal systems and controls, including implementing suitable accounting software.
  • Communicate confidently about tax and other matters to reassure clients.
  • Draft letters/emails for Directors and Partners to review/send concerning advice or other matters.
  • Conduct client meetings independently and discuss their affairs.

Service Delivery

  • Ensure client deadlines are known and met.
  • Prepare complex Financial Statements for review as required.
  • Review Financial Statements, Corporation Tax Returns, Income & Expense reports, regular management accounts, and VAT Returns
  • Have a good understanding of VAT and disclosures.
  • Be fully knowledgeable about firm compliance and client onboarding procedures, including Anti-Money Laundering Procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Address technical matters responsibly.
  • Resolve any arising issues.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks when necessary.
  • Train junior team members on software and processes necessary for their roles
  • Allocate staff to client work while considering the technical and career development of junior members.
  • Implement ideas for staff motivation and development.
  • Lead weekly manager meetings to discuss work management.
  • Provide monthly updates to Partners.
  • Develop and implement new processes to ensure smooth practice operations.
  • Support junior staff with their career development.
  • Assist with internal training for staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage your work schedules and plans.
  • Comply with the firm's policies at all times.
  • Record time accurately using practice management software.
  • Authorize staff timesheets.
  • Manage your portfolio's billing process and ensure timely billing by admin.
  • File emails per firm procedures and ensure they are stored in the document management system.
  • Adhere to the firm's risk management and practice assurance procedures.

Attributes, Requirements, Skills

  • Professional qualification (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • Solid public practice experience
  • Minimum of 2 years as a manager in another practice
  • Commitment to maintaining high-level technical knowledge.
  • Proficiency in MS Products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Xero
  • Experience with Iris, Alpha, QuickBooks, and Sage 50 is advantageous
