Full time: 35 hours per week

THE POST: Risk and Insurance Officer

The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is looking for a Risk and Insurance Officer to join their Risk and Resilience team. The Risk and Resilience team is a small and friendly team that is responsible for devising, implementing, and maintaining the university's risk management, insurance, business continuity and incident management activities.

We are looking for someone with experience working in a risk management and insurance role. You will be supporting the Head of Risk and Resilience to promote and deliver risk management objectives to colleagues throughout the university to manage business risks proportionately and appropriately and support the management of the University's insurance portfolio to ensure fit for purpose cover is in place throughout the organisation.

The role holder will work closely with the Head of Risk and Resilience to provide support, training and guidance to further develop and embed the existing risk culture and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify risks which need to be insured against.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Degree or equivalent level/significant comparable experience and risk management or business continuity qualifications are desirable
  • Relevant experience of risk management, and experience across the BCM Lifecycle and ideally with familiarity with risk registers and other risk management tools
  • Experience of working with a wide range of relevant departments such as Health & Safety, Information Services, Estates, Communications etc.
  • Experience in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential data and information and formulating into reports and presentations
  • Proven ability to deliver a consistently professional, organised and high-quality level of service in a fast-paced pressurised environment
