Are you passionate about ensuring a safe and healthy work environment while contributing to the success of a leading agricultural company? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Health, Safety Officer to join a dynamic team on a part time basis.
We are looking for a reliable Health & Safety Officer to ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.
As a Health & Safety Officer you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.

As the Health and Safety Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental management systems in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and management on health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Liaising closely with the site management team, Human Resources and Occupational Health to ensure thorough investigation is carried out in line with employment law following any health concerns raised.
  • Establish and maintain strong reporting mechanisms to monitor and analyse safety performance data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs and initiatives to promote a safety-conscious culture.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to effectively manage potential crises or disasters.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive the implementation of effective safety and environmental initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health, safety, and environmental activities.

Health and Safety Manager Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Health, Safety, and Environment Manager in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Professional certifications in health, safety, and environmental management
  • NEBOSH diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
  • Membership of IOSH
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.

  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organisation, has strong presence and impact to influence directors and managers. Comes across as robust and credible.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build genuine relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Strong general management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage resources, and drive results.
  • Approachable, authentic, and able to maintain perspective in challenging situations.
