We are currently recruiting for a Permanent, Full Time, Senior Residential Children's Support Worker in Essex.

You must hold:

A valid Enhanced DBS

Level 3 NVQ or Level 3 Diploma in Children's and Young People in Health and Social Care qualification for this role.

Relative PMVA/MAPA Training

A full UK driving licence is needed for this role

Day Residential Support Workers - 37 Hours per week, 3 x 12 hour shifts, 7am-7pm (7am-11pm, if sleep in) - plus one hour for supervision. Sleep ins are required on a weekly basis.

Waking Nights Support Worker - 37 Hours a week, 3 x 12 hour shifts, 7am-7pm - plus one hour for supervision. Optional Overtime.

About you:

You will have recent experience working as a Residential Worker or Youth Worker, in Children's Residential Care as a Support Worker or Senior Support Worker for at least a year and hold a minimum Level 3 in Children's and Young Peoples Workforce.

As a Senior Residential Support Worker you will look after the physical and mental wellbeing of young people, and support young people in the many different aspects of daily life within the home, some of the skills you will have include:

Communication Skills – you must communicate clearly and respectfully with vulnerable young people and with your team

Patience – you'll need lots of this whilst addressing different needs or issues

Positive – passionate, caring and approachable

Empathy – you need to be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds

Admin Skills – basic IT skills are needed, writing reports and updating computer records.

Reliability – children and young people will be depending on you, as a caregiver for vulnerable children within in the home

Resilience – being able to stay focused and calm in challenging situations

Sense of Humour – with sometimes challenging situations, a sense of humour is definitely required to help strike a good balance

Main Role and Responsibilities

? Meeting the needs of Children and Young People in line with Ofsted Regulations.

? Respect the choices, needs and wishes of the young person, involving individuals in their own plans and day to day decisions.

? Develop person centred working relationships with the young person, carrying out Key Worker responsibilities in a professional manner.

? Helping young people continue with hobbies, social activities, friendships, and learn new skills.

? Preparing breakfast and evening meals, supporting appropriate choices regarding nutritional needs.

? Providing support with daily routines and ensuring the young person has a safe space to relax and unwind within the home.

? Assisting young person to develop and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance, assisting them to learn self-care and with direct support where required.

? Supporting young people to reach their full potential and experience new opportunities, socially and emotionally.

? Adhering to all safeguarding. Reporting to managers any concerns regarding welfare including health and safety issues.

? Administering medication in accordance with individual needs and taking full account of the Medication Policy and Procedures.

? Planning Rotas and assisting the Registered/Deputy/Home Manager in all aspects of the Statement Purpose.
