Electrical Technician

We are currently recruiting an Electrical Technician to join our waste treatment site at Rye Meads STW SG12 8JY.

As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods working within the team.

As well as following a robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in installation projects, electrical fault finding, project commissioning and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Base Location: Rye Meads Sewage Works - SG12 8JY.

Working Pattern: 38 Hours per week 7;30 am- 3:36 pm (Plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment).

A van, PPE and tools will be provided.

What you'll be doing as an Electrical Technician

  • Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • Provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Participation in a 1 in 6-week standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment. For which you will receive additional payment.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on include various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.

What you should bring to the role

  • NVQ, or C&G level 3 in Electrical Engineering & Mechanical Engineering.
  • 18th Edition qualification is essential.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
  • Significant experience in electrical systems ideally working in a "true multi-skilled" capacity.
  • A valid driving license is required.
