Building Surveyor

Principal Building Control Surveyor

Duration: 6 months initially possible extension

Rate: Negotiable Rate Inside IR35

Hours: 37 hours per week

On site required – administration work can be completed from home

Responsibilities:

  • To support the directorate team to deliver high quality professional Building Control service for the Council and partner authorities
  • To direct the development of a marketing strategy for the City and partners to counter the threat of external competition. Engage with existing and new key clients with a view to entering into new market areas complementary to the team's area of expertise
  • To support the management of building regulations application system
  • To plan examination and determination including external national development schemes for key clients
  • Complete site Inspection of building works
  • Assist on the Implementation and enforcement of building regulations and allied legislation.
  • Provide advice on fire safety for all buildings including a fire safety license for high rise buildings
  • Represent the City and partner authorities on professional and technical groups in a regional and national capacity, working to promote best practice, benchmarking and views on future changes in legislation

Requirements:

  • Expert Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, and its application in relation to the functions of the service area
  • Relevant technical qualifications such as a degree building surveying or a combination of qualifications and experience that demonstrates an expert knowledge in the service areas functions and responsibilities
  • Must has access to own vehicle and able to travel on site
