Working Hours: 11:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Job Description:

Overview: An SEN Primary School in Purley is seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to join our team on a part-time basis. This position offers the potential for a temporary to permanent transition for the right candidate. The Caretaker will be responsible for ensuring the school environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained, supporting the needs of our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and general upkeep of the school premises.

  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are in good working order, reporting any major issues to the management.

  • Health and Safety:

  • Conduct regular health and safety checks to ensure compliance with school policies and regulations.

  • Address any hazards promptly to maintain a safe environment for students and staff.

  • Cleaning and Hygiene:

  • Oversee and conduct daily cleaning routines, ensuring all areas of the school are clean and sanitary.

  • Manage waste disposal and recycling processes efficiently.

  • Security:

  • Ensure the security of the school premises by locking and unlocking doors and windows as required.

  • Monitor and respond to any security concerns, including liaising with external security services if necessary.

  • Support Services:

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment and furniture for school events and activities.

  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests and other ad hoc duties as directed by the school management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or similar role, preferably within an educational setting.

  • Skills:

  • Strong practical skills in general maintenance and repairs.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

  • Good organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Basic IT skills for logging maintenance requests and reporting issues.

  • Attributes:

  • Reliable and punctual.

  • Good communication skills.

  • A proactive and flexible approach to tasks.

  • Sensitivity to the needs of SEN students and a commitment to supporting their learning environment.

  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
