Active Recruitment are working with an Outstanding mainstream Primary school in Tower Hamlets who are looking for a BSL Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team of staff. As a BSL Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the teaching staff and other professionals to support the development and educational progress of their students. The purpose of the role is to act as a role model and mentor to children between the age of 5-11, implementing various strategies to reach targets set out in their individual action plans.
Requirements of the BSL Teaching Assistant
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with hearing impairments utilizing British Sign Language (BSL) where necessary.
- Facilitate communication between students and teachers by interpreting spoken language into British Sign Language (BSL) and vice versa.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt lesson plans and materials to accommodate the needs of students with hearing impairment
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered to achieve their full potential.
- Liaise with external specialists and support services to ensure that students receive comprehensive and holistic support.
