German Speaking Legal Counsel

We are currently recruiting for a global company, looking to recruit into its installation business. They are responsible for installation and managing services across very large organisations and have a significant market share within this space. The company is growing at a very fast rate and, due to the nature of the company, they have an established brand, with a start-up mentality across various growth areas.

This is a permanent opportunity, with significant WFH flexibility, based in London for in-house legal counsel with construction experience to take legal responsibility for a medium-sized UK company and a German.

Responsibilities

  • Commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of areas including company secretarial, master service agreements relating to maintenance, remote technical support and permanent on-site support, as well as the integration of sophisticated audiovisual and software systems, ensuring compliance with applicable law and acceptable risk profiles.
  • Negotiating and drafting agreements and conducting contract negotiations with project counterparties primarily for construction/integration, maintenance and related services.
  • Contentious and non-contentious contractual matters with respect to tenders, projects, variations and ongoing contractual and operational issues within the business.
  • Working closely with colleagues throughout the group and with customers.
  • Managing external legal resource as required.
  • Involvement in developing and delivering training on various issues for colleagues across the business.

Qualifications

  • Fluent German language proficiency with a background in German law (German qualification not necessary)
  • 3+ PQE (guideline only)
  • Good knowledge of outsourcing, commercial and UK/EU public procurement contracts.
  • Good knowledge of construction contracts (particularly FIDIC and JCT) is ideal.
  • The ability to draft and negotiate a variety of documentation including development, construction, consultancy and services agreements.
  • The ability to manage a sizeable workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with stakeholder management but also able to work with colleagues at all levels of the business.
  • Good interpersonal and relationship skills, with the ability to influence and persuade others in a constructive manner.

This role reports directly to the General Counsel, International but will work closely with the senior leadership teams in the UK and Germany and other business functions as well as externally with counterparty legal advisers, external legal advisers, contract counterparties and customers.
