Director Business Management, Benchmark & Index Management

Role Profile

This role will be responsible for strategic planning and operational activities for the effective and efficient running of the Benchmark and Index Management business line within FTSE Russell , an LSEG business.

The Benchmark and Index Management division is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of our index and benchmark products, from data management to publication and distribution and client servicing.

This role will be an important partner to Head of Benchmark and Index Management to manage financial performance, resource allocation, reporting, KPI setting and monitoring along with driving the growth strategy and transformation projects within the business line. This role will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including People, Finance, FTSE Russell COO, and Benchmark and Index Management team leads.

Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides senior support to Head of Benchmark and Index Management in the strategic, tactical and day-to-day delivery of strategic, regulatory and operational objectives.
  • Leads the delivery of strategic and operational projects for Benchmark & Index Management to drive the Strategic Objectives and ensure the business line is running efficiently, optimising business line resources, and maximising ROI.
  • Establishes the operating rhythm for Benchmark and Index Management in alignment with COO including the ownership and maintenance of the operating calendar, ensuring awareness and visibility for Benchmark and Index Management team of important events, deadlines and commitments.
  • Develops metrics for capturing, analysing, and reporting effectiveness of the business line and may drive process improvement, change initiatives and issue resolution.
  • Drives alignment on deliverables and removal of barriers to execution through regular conversations with documented commitments and outcomes, driving the flow of information.
  • Engages in FTSE Russell planning and objective setting to meet the requirements of the LSEG annual strategic planning process in close partnership with FTSE Russell COO.
  • Manages a team of direct reports, using the appropriate resources, networks and tools to ensure delivery against objectives and to provide performance management, technical development, guidance and coaching (where applicable).

Key Behaviours & Skills:

  • Extensive previous experience in a business manager, project manager, finance or strategy role
  • Experience in leading, improving and introducing new processes and maintaining execution focus in changing, pressured environments
  • Good understanding of financial markets, trends, participants and investment products
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - skilled at producing content-rich, word-light executive narrative to resonate at CEO level and an ability to articulate complex thoughts and ideas in an understandable and impactful manner
  • Highly analytical with track record of problem solving
  • Strong cross functional team engagement
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office including excel modelling and PowerPoint skills
  • Nice to have but not required: PowerBI skills, experience with Lucid
