Salary - Up to £75,000 plus an excellent benefits package

Position Overview

We are looking for a Maintenance & Technical Engineer to join our team and take responsibility for the technical upkeep, preventive maintenance, and repair operations across a diverse portfolio of hotels and commercial properties. This role requires a proactive, hands-on professional with deep technical knowledge of building systems and a strong commitment to safety, service quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Operations

  • Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
  • Diagnose and address reactive maintenance issues across sites with speed and professionalism.
  • Log, track, and report all work activities and repairs, ensuring transparency and

Vendor & Project Coordination

  • Liaise with and oversee third-party contractors for specialized repair work and service contracts.
  • Support renovation, refurbishment, and upgrade projects, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants and commercial operations.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with health, safety, and building regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks within property infrastructure.

Planning & Improvement

  • Assist in the budgeting and planning of maintenance operations.
  • Champion energy efficiency initiatives and support sustainability objectives across the property portfolio.

Emergency Support

  • Participate in an on-call rota for emergency repairs and urgent technical issues.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, ideally across both residential and commercial properties.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, BMS, fire protection, and access control.
  • Solid understanding of technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities, especially when dealing with tenants, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Familiar with sustainable maintenance practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar are advantageous.

Work Environment

  • Field-based role with regular travel to multiple property locations.
  • Involves working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor spaces.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required as appropriate
