Job Description:
As an HGV Mechanic/Technician, your primary responsibility will be to perform maintenance, repair, safety inspections, and fault finding on our extensive fleet of vehicles, including cars, vans, tippers, 8-wheel tippers, skip trucks, 6-wheel bucket skips, 8-wheeler Ro-Ro Wagons, Arctic wagons (walking floor), and trailers. This role is site-based only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles in our fleet to ensure they are safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards.
- Safety Inspections: Perform routine safety inspections on HGVs and other vehicles to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Fault Finding: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and other issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize vehicle downtime and maximize performance.
- Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities. - Compliance:
Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as an HGV mechanic/technician, preferably in the waste industry or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in fault finding and diagnostics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Relevant certifications and qualifications in vehicle maintenance and repair.
