Hours: 35 hours per week (condensed hours over 4 days considered)

Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity, is looking to recruit a HR Officer to join their team for a 6-month fixed-term role, with the possibility of extension. You'll work closely with the Head of HR and Director of People & Culture, playing a key role in recruitment and ensuring their new HR system (SafeHR) is properly set up for accurate data and reporting.

Synopsis of duties:

  • Support the Head of HR and Director of People & Culture with key organisational tasks.
  • Serve as a primary contact for staff and managers on HR queries, ensuring alignment with policies and procedures, and escalating to the Head of HR when necessary.
  • Ensure the HRIS (SafeHR) is fully operational, capturing accurate HR data for audits and reporting.
  • Assist department heads and recruiting managers with all recruitment stages, ensuring a smooth candidate experience from vacancy to onboarding.
  • Manage HR administration across the employee lifecycle, such as promotions, pay changes, contract updates, references, and exit processes.
  • Understand organisational and departmental needs, offering HR advice and providing documentation to support decisions.
  • Assist the Head of HR with monthly payroll administration.
  • Keep colleagues and stakeholders updated on progress, sharing insights and learnings.
  • Handle general HR tasks and provide project support as needed.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an HR Support Officer or similar in a similar sized organisation
  • Strong capability in managing all stages of recruitment and providing seamless candidate experience.
  • Experience in using HR platforms (e.g., SafeHR) and other IT tools like Microsoft Office to ensure accurate data handling and reporting.
  • Ability to provide practical HR advice across a range of matters, aligning with best practices and employment law (CIPD Level 3 or higher preferred).
  • Experience with employee relations casework and supporting organisational changes.
  • Hands-on experience in administering payroll and supporting the HR lifecycle.
  • A proactive and continuous improvement mindset, ready to optimise HR processes.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities to liaise effectively with staff, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated high levels of professionalism, with a focus on confidentiality..
