The Platform Project is an innovative social enterprise dedicated to empowering disadvantaged and vulnerable young people with the skills, confidence, and experience they need to build a sustainable future. Working closely with local authorities, education institutes and local employers, our unique concept of a 'training workplace' bridges the gap between education and employment.

We're seeking Tutors to support our young people with core educational learning in the likes of Maths and English (GCSE and Functional Skills) who have often been out of education for a for a significant amount of time.

Based in Swindon, this is a flexible, part-time position offering £20-25 per hour depending on experience, with hours likely to be inside education hours and term time only.

In the role of Tutor, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providing 1:1 tutoring support for our students, many with additional learning needs (ASD, ADHD).
  • Assessing the student's ability and gauging their level of need during tutoring sessions.
  • Building trust and adapting your approach to deliver an engaging curriculum.
  • Using innovative and creative learning techniques to motivate students effectively.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in tutoring or teaching young people.
  • Experience with functional skills and/or GCSE Maths & English.
  • Expertise in working with young people who have additional learning or SEMH needs.
  • The ability to develop customised learning plans and resources.

The Role:

As a Tutor for The Platform Project, you will be patient, inclusive, resilient and flexible. Working as part of a small team who support with a maximum of 12 students at any one time, it's essential that you understand the complex needs of the students you are tutoring, adapting your approach and making a big impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.
