Our client is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Housing Officer to join the team on a temporary basis. As a Technical Housing Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of our housing stock. You will work closely with other housing professionals to address technical issues, conduct inspections, and implement solutions to improve the overall standard of our properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting regular inspections of residential properties to assess compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and other relevant standards.
  • Identifying and documenting maintenance issues, safety hazards, and structural defects, and taking appropriate action to rectify them.
  • Liaising with tenants, landlords, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate repairs, renovations, and maintenance work.
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to colleagues and external partners on housing-related matters.
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports, and databases related to property inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance assessments.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and initiatives aimed at improving housing standards and tenant satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role within the housing sector, preferably within a local authority or housing association.
  • Sound knowledge of housing legislation, health and safety regulations, and building codes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and housing management systems.
