Windsor Forest College Group is looking for two Assistant Animal Centre Managers to join the BCA team on a full-time basis.

Please note this role requires the successful applicant to work 5 out 7 days in a week which will include one weekend day.

BCA Animal Education Centre aims to be industry leading in its progressive approach to welfare. It is organised into two areas that are separately licensed and have specialist technical staff. It sits within the beautiful BCA campus near Maidenhead.

Assistant Animal Education Centre Manager

The College is seeking to appoint an Assistant Animal Centre Manager to be responsible for either our:

1. Domestic and companion area. This is inclusive of our kennel and Animal Activities licensed facility that includes 15 species such as goats, sheep, poultry, pigs, rabbits, ferrets, mice and alpacas.

2. Zoo licenced and BIAZA accredited facility. This is inclusive of ~90 exotic mammal, bird and ectotherm species, including Goeldi monkey, Bali Starling, Asian short-clawed otters, lake Titicaca frogs, Egyptian tortoises and weaver ants.

Key elements of each role are to:

To take responsibility for the day-today running of the area, ensuring daily tasks are completed to meet the highest standards of animal welfare. This is both directly and through utilising a team of animal technicians , volunteers, and our learners. The post-holder will lead the development of teaching to?learners conducting work experience and practical activities on their sections. To meet this aim, it is essential the post holder has a clear commitment to providing high quality support to our learners as well as demonstrating exceptional and progressive standards of animal welfare.? It is essential that you have a recognised qualification in your subject area (a minimum of L4), extensive industry experience and experience supervising/working with young people.?

The post holder will also be responsible for implementing our Health and Welfare Policy that includes organising vet visits, periodic screenings, quarantine, chairing our ethics committee and updating species specific protocols. We are seeking to appoint someone who is experienced in working in an accredited, animal licensed establishment, has excellent communication skills both verbal and written with a flexible and adaptable approach to working that embraces change and problem solving.

The role will contribute to the strategic direction of the centre and will lead the centre in the absence of the animal centre manager.
