Reconciliation Analyst

Location: South Tyneside**,** NE31 1SF

Salary: £27,223 - £28,613 per annum

Hours: The post is supported by the MOJ flexible working policy and includes colleagues who work flexibly, remotely, part time (minimum of 24 hours to cover at least 4 days of the week) or as part of a job share etc.

Our clients are an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). They provide civil and criminal legal aid and advice in England and Wales to help people deal with their legal problems.

The Role

The role of Reconciliation Analyst is to manage the reconciliation of all Legal Help, Crime (Lower) and Mediation contracts, both live and withdrawn. This is in accordance with the established protocol which is essential to the effective operation of the contracting and payment process.

The successful candidate will be required to analyse large amounts of data and have excellent attention to detail. They will also be required to develop and manage strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work to continually improve and develop services, aligning activities to contribute to wider organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the monthly Reconciliation process operates effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Make detailed, robust decisions on provider payment requests. Liaise with Contract Managers to agree an appropriate course of action and/or monitoring activity.
  • Work within agreed SLAs and turnaround times.
  • Provide statistical information where necessary which can be relied upon by the Senior Leadership Team and meets NAO requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Contract Management & Assurance, Finance, Debt Recovery and other LAA departments in this area of work as required.
  • Continue to reduce the LAA's financial exposure posed by the Reconciliation process.
  • Communicate with stakeholders in a timely and effective manner, ensuring outcomes are understood. Prepare comprehensive and tailored responses to provider queries, explaining the LAA's financial statements and payment system.
  • Use financial and performance management data to identify key issues and ensure appropriate action is taken to address areas of concern.
  • Design and develop Standard Operating Procedures, reviewing regularly.
  • Take a lead on a particular aspect of the team's work, reporting progress to Team Manager and take responsibility for achieving targets associated with this lead area.
  • Ensure all personal, team and organisational targets are met through effectively managing own workload, providing progress reports and contributing to target revisions.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Essential Knowledge, Experience and skills Effective IT skill including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience of working in a process driven environment, operating within set rules and guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing to a range of stakeholders
  • Effective time management skills, managing workload to meet deadlines.

Experience of working with data to make accurate and informed decisions:

  • Desirable Knowledge, Experience and skills Experience of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience of working with finances.
