JOB PURPOSE

The Sales Manager for Publications holds a pivotal role in driving revenue growth through strategic advertising and sponsorship sales strategies, with a specific emphasis on cultivating strong client relationships and executing impactful campaign-level contracts. The roles involves selling and managing the team across publications, digital, sponsorship and Awards revenues.

They are tasked with acquiring new clients, nurturing existing partnerships, and overseeing a team to execute advertising campaigns and sponsorship activations across various media platforms. By prioritising client relationship management and leveraging market insights, they ensure the successful negotiation and execution of sponsorship agreements and campaign-level contracts.

Through continuous performance monitoring and analysis, they guarantee the organisation remains competitive and profitable in the dynamic landscape of publication commercialisation. With a blend of strategic vision, leadership acumen, and industry expertise, they drive forward-thinking initiatives that align with organisational goals, ultimately maximising revenue potential and fostering long-term success.

  • Proven B2B Sales Track Record: Demonstrated success in publication B2B sales with a strong history of achieving targets.

Core Tasks

  • Personal Revenue Generation: Drive revenue growth through effective management of publication sales, subscriptions, and advertising agreements.
  • Team management. Managing, driving, developing and motivating the commercial publications team
  • Publication Strategy Development- Develop and execute strategic plans to drive advertising sales revenue across print, digital, and other media platforms.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with advertising clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including senior management, editorial teams, and finance departments, to align commercial activities with overall business goals.
  • Industry Networking: Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build networks, promote publications, and identify partnership opportunities.
  • Media Planning and Campaign Management: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop effective advertising campaigns, including media planning, ad placement, and creative execution.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate advertising contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring favourable terms and conditions while protecting the organization's interests.
