Quality Inspector team lead
Overall responsibility to lead the Inspection function of the business, ensuring robust control of product quality from internal manufacturing, subcontract activity and goods receipt.
To support the business operational and functional teams in the successful achievement of their objectives
Duties
- Safe working environment
- Ensure that all staff are safe and are working safely. That all staff have the correct level of safety training & PPE for their given role. Ensure all accidents and near misses are recorded, reviewed and any learning shared.
- Authorisation and management of the teams' holidays and absence's in line with company requirements.
- Ensure that their team members are suitably trained and skilled to carry out the activities required, managed through a training matrix
- Maintain an annual appraisal process for all direct reports
Quality Control
Ensure all inspection requirements are completed as specified by the route cards and company procedures.
Conduct inspection activities as required to meet customer requirements and internal production demands.
Perform CMM, manual, visual goods receipt and patrol inspection operations as required
Plan workload effectively for the inspection team to meet business and customer requirements.
Produce CMM programs as required
Ensure all non-conformance is controlled and recorded in line with company procedures
Participate in problem solving activities across all manufacturing areas
Actively participate in the identification and completion of improvement projects
Participate in problem investigations and contribute to solutions
Essential Qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills and competencies:
- Has a precision engineering background, ideally within the aerospace and/or nuclear industry
- Able to engineering drawings and specifications and understand First Principal measurement Excellent communication skills
- Inspection experience of more than 5 years
- Team Leader or Supervisory Experience of more than 2 years
- CMM Programming of complex parts (Mitutoyo MCOSMOS preferred)
- Trained in the use of applicable Quality Tools
- First Article Inspection to AS9102
- Understands how to perform Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility Studies
Desirable Qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills and competencies:
Knowledge of customer specific procedures and specifications (Rolls-Royce plc, Babcock)
Supervisory experience of more than 5 years
Leadership Training
Trained in programming Mitutoyo MCOSMOS
Other Relevant Information:
Willing and able to perform all other duties deemed necessary by the business
Able to work within a structured Team environment but with ability to identify, support and implement improvements.
Flexible with regards to working overtime where required by business needs.
Working Hours;
0730-1630 Mon-Thu, 0730-1230 Fri
39hrs per week
½ hr lunch break Mon-Thu
Pay £17.68 - £19,20
Overtime paid at 1.5x
