MERJE are partnered with a leading Manchester Financial Services business in their search for a Financial Controller.

ABOUT THE ROLE The Financial Controller will play a crucial role in ensuring financial stability and providing strategic guidance to senior management. This is a divisional platform comprising segments which include; the amalgamation of central professional and fund management services delivered to managed funds, certain legal advisory practices, portfolio master servicing and legal and specialist servicing activities.

The role would suit individuals from a financial services, professional services or broader business services background, ideally Big 4 or consultancy-trained prior to moving into industry.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Financial Planning and Strategy:

  • Lead the annual and mid-year budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance and drive growth across each segment
  • Assisting with the set-up of a new legal servicing entity

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
  • Accuracy of ledgers for all legal entities including the various intercompany accounts
  • Implement effective financial controls and systems to mitigate risks relating to those legal entities
  • Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and working capital management within the legal entities

Risk Management:

  • Engage proactively in the group's risk management framework as it relates to the finance function including the relevant local platform risk & control self-assessments and attestation processes
  • Support audit activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate and engage positively with senior management, local entity board members and fund representatives on financial matters
  • Present financial performance and forecasts to wider stakeholders within the global group, ensuring transparency and credibility
  • Assist the CFO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent with post-qualified experience
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Strong communicator - verbal and written
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial focus with the ability to proactively identify, evaluate and deliver opportunities to create value within the business
