We are seeking a diligent Finance Assistant / Sales Ledger person to join our clients finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the sales ledger, credit control, and various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial transactions.
Day to day of the role:
- Raising deposit invoices, including obtaining purchase order numbers as appropriate.
- Posting all sales invoices onto Sage and sending out statements as directed.
- Chasing outstanding invoices by phone and email, updating the monthly ‘deposits held' spreadsheet.
- Monitoring outstanding invoices and following up with customers to ensure timely payment, addressing any issues or discrepancies.
- Managing banking tasks, including updating the customer booking system when payments are made, handling petty cash, and performing bank matching, posting, and reconciliation.
- Posting monthly bar journals on Sage, intercompany journals, and book and gift stock journals.
- Preparing regular reports on sales ledger activity, providing insights into outstanding invoices, payment trends, and aging analysis.
- Checking BACS processing report for any Direct Debit returns and conducting intercompany reconciliation.
- Overseeing and managing the finance email inbox.
- Assisting with the preparation of supporting schedules for the year-end audit.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in using Sage accounting software.
- Experience with sales ledger management and credit control.
- Strong understanding of banking processes and reconciliation.
- Ability to prepare and analyse financial reports.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with BACS and Direct Debit transactions.
