Summary of the Role:

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their sales career to develop within an established and respected player in the energy sector. Your role will be crucial in helping customers achieve the UK's net zero targets. You will maintain a portfolio of existing accounts, manage healthy pipelines, and engage in business development. Building on our current success in the renewables sector, you will drive growth by working with large contractors and end-users directly.

Role Description:

  • Drive business development in your market segment, achieving sales targets for new customers and new business, as well as organic growth.
  • Represent the company in your business area, developing specific customer relationships, and enhancing the company's reputation.
  • Develop a growth strategy for your market segment, identifying available industry streams, market segments, and customers.
  • Collaborate on a sales plan for your market sector, providing detailed opportunities for business leaders to make informed decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments, particularly Business Development and Finance, to develop effective matrix management, governance of bids, resource and risk management, and best practices.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in creating and growing sales to benefit a business.
  • Track record of developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and a drive for outstanding customer service and high performance.
  • Good understanding of the overall energy sector, particularly Transmission and Distribution (T&D).
  • Knowledge of business development performance drivers and automation control systems.
  • Ability to develop and deliver a growth strategy and sales plan in complex industries.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to deliver formal reports and presentations.
  • Understanding of matrix management principles and their application.
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent).

Desirable Requirements:

  • Sales or technical experience with systems such as SCS/Protection, PLC/SCADA, DCS, or Telemetry.
  • Understanding of internal networks and politics within the business and marketplace.
  • Experience in Energy from Oil & Gas, power generation (Conventional and Renewables), and Transmission.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships at all levels.
  • Knowledge of the company's capabilities, markets, and service offerings.
