Job Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Toolmaker to support the production of a lamination notching/press line. The role involves producing detailed drawings based on information from the engineering department to design notching and press tools for bespoke projects. This includes the use of CNC/manual machine tools, heat treatment processes, and grinding equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, fit, and repair press tools.
  • Follow engineering drawings to measure and mark out designs for manufacture.
  • Operate machinery such as lathes, presses, milling machines, grinders, heat treatment equipment, and wire erosion machines.
  • Write and prove CNC code using Fanuc control systems.
  • Use and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Utilise 2D and 3D CAD software for the design and manufacture of tooling jigs and fixtures.
  • Inspect using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and Vernier calipers.
  • Monitor tool conditions on the lamination production line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or improvements.
  • Comply with Engineering Health and Safety procedures and current legislation and safety standards at all times.
  • Perform other tasks as reasonably requested by the Line Manager within the role holder's ability.

Education / Qualification Requirements:

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent Qualification in an Engineering-related discipline.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or toolmaking environment.
