Czech and Slovak Speaking Teaching Assistant (EAL) - Dover

Academics in Canterbury are currently working with a school in Dover to support them in sourcing a Czech and Slovak Speaking Teaching Assistant. This role is to start ASAP and ideally on a full time basis.

They are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is fluent in Czech and Slovak to join our dynamic team.

Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting their students' learning and development. You will work closely with teachers to provide assistance in the classroom, support individual students and help create an engaging learning environment. Your language skills will be particularly invaluable in assisting our Czech and Slovak-speaking students to overcome language barriers and thrive in their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering curriculum and lesson plans effectively.
  • Support individual and small groups of students in their learning activities.
  • Provide translation and interpretation support for Czech and Slovak-speaking students.
  • Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Encourage a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their potential.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and maintain records as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Fluent in Czech and Slovak, both written and spoken.
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient and compassionate approach to supporting students.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A good understanding of the issues faced by non-English speaking students is desirable.
