Our client is a Global FMCG Distributor and we are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Transport professional as they look to recruit a Transport Manager at their site in Corby, Northamptonshire on a Sunday to Thursday basis (2100hrs - 0600hrs).

Reporting into the Transport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the busy Transport operation, with a fleet size of c50 units and 60 Drivers. The site operates mainly on a single drop basis, with some multi-drop to select customers.

Key Accountabilities as Transport Manager:

  • Oversee and manage transport operations for the shift.
  • Lead a team of 4-5 direct reports, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Be responsible for the execution of on time and complete deliveries.
  • Address and resolve driver related issues, including disciplinary matters and investigations
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), taking proactive measures to achieve targets and improve performance.
  • Conduct investigations in the event of accidents, ensuring compliance with relevant protocols
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to optimise fleet utilisation and meet customer demands.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops the team and his direct reports to improve individual and organisational performance and excel within their line of responsibilities.
  • Looks to continuously improve processes and people skillset in line with company values and objectives.

The Ideal Person for the Transport Manager role:

  • CPC qualified
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations management or similar roles within the transportation industry.
  • Driven with desire to grow within the business. There is ample opportunities for progression in this role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent IT and TMS literacy.
  • Strong knowledge of drivers' hours and WTD regulations.
  • Knowledge and ability to deal with employee relations issues such as disciplinary, grievance and absence management.
  • Commercial awareness. Candidate is required to demonstrate a keen sense of commercial awareness in decision making and day to day operations.
