My client is a highly successful UK based manufacturer who are looking for a Head of Procurement to join their site in Kent

With a high volume of products, sourced from a limited number of suppliers, this business is looking to hire a strategic individual who nurtures supplier relationships, has experience of working in a demanding professional environment and who is financially savvy when dealing with top level business decisions.

Description

Reporting directly into the Site Director, the Head of Procurement will be responsible for all raw material spend and contract negotiations across key categories.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing procurement strategies for materials and services, optimising expenditure, and standardising these processes across UK plants.
  • Developing and maintaining a monthly report to track progress towards the cost savings goals.
  • Creating innovative procurement tools, like e-sourcing platforms, to enhance the procurement process, with focus on developing solutions that streamline sourcing activities and improve effectiveness.
  • Negotiating long-term contracts, and managing executions of Frame Agreements, to ensure optimum costs and reliable supply.
  • Coordinating and supporting the buying team to run tenders / negotiations on key categories to deliver optimum value.

Profile

Successful candidates will have a strong manufacturing background and a proven ability to manage high-volume spend across a small number of commodities.

You will also possess:

  • Extensive experience in a procurement or purchasing / supply chain role.
  • A solution-orientated mindset with a high sense of quality and attention to detail.
  • A customer focussed approach with a commitment to sustainability.
  • Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of dealing with senior stakeholders both internally and from suppliers.
  • Proven experience of implementing and improving KPIs to decrease costs, optimise expenditure and increase reliability.
  • Ability to develop supplier relationships and manage single source supply chain. Focussing large spend across limited commodities to ensure business success.
  • CIPS qualifications would be advantageous.
