EAL Secondary Teaching Assistant

Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a secondary teaching assistant immediately available for a full-time role in north Manchester?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a confident personable secondary teaching assistant with experience of supporting teenagers who speak various languages to join the EAL department of a secondary academy in north Manchester.

This is a full time, ongoing temporary role for three months initially.

The Role
English as an Additional Language Secondary Teaching Assistant
Five days a week 8.15am - 3.30pm
Working with small groups of teenagers with various levels of English comprehension to ensure they feel settled and safe in school (many students have not been in a UK secondary school before)
Working collaboratively with the Head of EAL and Head of English and SENCO
A background in TEFL or ESOL is desirable but experience of supporting children aged 11 to 16 is essential.

As this role is teaching and developing English language skills, applicants must have excellent English language skills including a solid understanding of English grammar.

To join us and be successful in this EAL Secondary Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:
Experience of teaching or supporting groups of teenagers aged 11 -16 either in a school or college, preferably a mainstream secondary school in England.
Good references to support this experience.
Have excellent understanding of the English language and communication skills
Provide a full CV of employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
Have the legal right to work full time in the UK without sponsorship
This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if you have lived abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years) and professional references checks
