Position: Engine Test Engineer - Internal Combustion Engines

Purpose: This role offers the opportunity to develop into a core member of the Propulsion team. You will initially work under the guidance of Senior Engineers or Engineering Managers, managing projects and gradually becoming more autonomous as you grow in the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Deliver engineering objectives set by Senior or Principal Engineers.
  • Generate engine installation packs and schematics for accurate test setups.
  • Identify and troubleshoot engine/test faults in collaboration with the team.
  • Process, validate, and analyse engine test data to track trends and identify concerns.
  • Participate in customer update meetings and project tracking.
  • Lead initiatives to optimise efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Maintain project-related invoicing and ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications:

  • HND or Degree in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering (relevant experience may substitute).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an automotive engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with test bed operation in automotive testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with engine test cell equipment, emissions measurement, and test automation systems (e.g., AVL Puma, Horiba STARS, Kratzer PATools).
  • Proficient in data analysis, report writing, and Microsoft Office applications.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of engine mechanics and materials.
  • Experience with instrumentation like thermocouples and pressure transducers.
  • Ability to work closely with customers to establish and execute test programs.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
