Our client, a successful retail supplier showcasing rapid growth and creativity, is looking for an Operations and Supply Chain Manager to join their team. Their product offerings span tech gadgets, gifts, toys, homewares, and general merchandise, catering to a wide range of consumer preferences. Responsibilities for this Operations + Supply Chain Manager role include:

  • Lead and manage end-to-end supply chain and operations: Oversee the entire supply chain and operations function for the business, encompassing procurement, forecasting, inventory flow, and logistics, ensuring seamless and timely distribution of products to customers.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships: Build and maintain robust relationships with suppliers, optimising the supplier base to ensure reliability and efficiency, and ensuring all agreed critical path dates are consistently met.
  • 3PL management: Oversee third-party logistics (3PL) partners globally - setting clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), managing budgets effectively, and ensuring the highest possible service levels to meet business and customer expectations. Researching and onboarding new 3PL warehouses when required.
  • Manage inbound + outbound logistics: Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics activities including choice of partners and terms of contracts. Ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation, handling, and distribution of products, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and meeting all customer requirements.
  • Create and review forecasts: Develop and evaluate sales forecasts with a commercial perspective, leveraging sales data, current market trends, and conditions to make informed and strategic decisions.
  • Manage inventory and stockholding: Supervise inventory and stockholding across multiple warehouse locations, implementing strategies to manage and exit slow-moving stock, ensuring optimal inventory levels are maintained.
  • Maintain stock on shelves with retail partners: Coordinate with retail partners to ensure consistent stock levels on shelves, preventing stockouts and overstocks, and ensuring products are always available for customers.
  • Maintain a curious mindset: Continuously review and analyse processes with a focus on improving efficiencies and performance, staying updated on the latest innovations and advancements in the supply chain and logistics field.

Skills & experience required:

  • 10+ years demonstrated Supply Chain and Operations managerial experience within a consumer product environment.
  • FMCG experience preferable with a thorough understanding of the needs and requirements of large global retailers.
  • Experience of working with global vendors including in the Far East.
  • 3PL management experience
  • A motivated self-starter with a proactive and 'think out of the box' approach
  • Highly commercial, numeric and analytical, with first class Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
