Job title: Catering Assistant

Location: Baston House School, Bromley

Salary: £11,540 per annum

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10am - 2:30pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our close-knit team at Baston House School located in Bromley.

About the role

The purpose of this job is to assist the Kitchen Manager to prepare and serve school meals. There is also an element of interaction with students to encourage a happy and healthy school lunchtime. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, and serving meals, considering and special dietary needs
  • To assist with the clearing up and cleaning of the kitchen equipment, kitchen area and dining hall
  • Food preparation, cooking and service to pupils and staff
  • Ensure all health & safety and food hygiene regulations are maintained within the kitchen environment
  • Ensuring a good standard of cleanliness is maintained
  • Ensuring adequate food supplies
  • Reporting problems raised, any cancellations or extra meals needed and maintaining records
  • To assist in the lunchtime supervision of pupils to ensure that service of food is completed on time in a safe and hygienic setting
  • Report behaviour observations to a teacher for them to maintain the school's standard of discipline and behaviour

Qualifications Required

  • Relevant Catering and Hospitality qualifications - i.e., City & Guilds or NVQ qualifications
  • Food Safety Certificate level 2

Baston House is an independent day specialist provider of education and care for young people and adults aged 5 to 19 years who have been diagnosed with Autism (ASC).
