Production Planning Manager

We are seeking a Planning Manager to oversee the creation and maintenance of manufacturing schedules. This role involves close collaboration with the Production Manager, Commercial Team, and Supply Chain team to ensure optimal production and supply schedules. As a leader in the Planning Department, you will provide guidance and leadership to maintain effective operations and service. You will be joining a business who have invested a lot in to its site and facilities recently, and are continuing on a trend of positive transformation and modernisation across their manufacturing plant.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop, maintain, and review production plans and scheduling documentation.
  • Manage MRP runs and set production plans, ensuring adherence to these plans.
  • Collaborate with various departments to establish schedules that allocate resources effectively.
  • Analyse current and anticipated orders against inventory, anticipating demand for additional supplies.
  • Manage the Runners, Repeaters, and Strangers analysis and process.
  • Integrate sales orders with master schedule and coordinate resources to meet delivery dates.
  • Lead forecasting meetings and planning sessions with key departments.
  • Drive production to meet ‘run at rates' for customer satisfaction.
  • Report on production throughput, scrap, and plan adherence.
  • Produce weekly management reports and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Monitor and develop skills within the team in line with business needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of site and company objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in manufacturing planning & scheduling.
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain management.
  • Proficient with production planning systems.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Desirable: Inventory management skills and LEAN or other relevant qualifications.
