Client Details

Opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety manager to join a leading food manufacturer in Bolton. The role oversees all Health & Safety matters for their expanding estate which consists of a mixed property portfolio of office space, factory & warehousing.

The role reports to the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for a team of 5 Health & Safety professionals across the site. You will work closely with all key stakeholders in the business including the Facilities & Production teams to ensure the site is fully compliant, minimise incidents and provide a safe working environment for it's 1100 staff.

Description

To be responsible and accountable for the provision of high quality ethical advice/guidance on company policy relating to Health, Safety & Environmental Matters.

You will be responsible for the operational H&S strategy as well as managing a team of Health & Safety coordinators across the site. Liaising with all key stakeholders including board of directors, HR, facilities/maintenance & production teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and assistance to Directors, Senior Managers and staff and Site Safety Advisors
  • Development and deliver consistent minimum standards covering all health safety and environmental activities across the site.
  • Review of the Groups Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Policy in the light of any legislative or organisational changes on behalf of the Managing Director & provide practical interpretation of the legal requirements applying to health & safety matters.
  • Development of health & safety systems, procedures and training across all sites
  • Monitor the health & safety performance of the business and the implementation
  • Produce monthly reports and attend board meetings
  • Ensure, via the Site Health & Safety Advisors, that any accidents reportable under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
  • Ensure, via the Site Health & Safety Advisors, that there is a system for fire precautions and fire management.

Profile

  • Experience working in a lead Health & Safety role within a high volume production environment
  • NEBOSH National Diploma (essential)
  • Ideally educated to degree level
  • Able to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge of H&S compliance / legislation
  • Ability to lead a team of H&S professionals
