About Us

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work closely with children who have complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and/or autism spectrum disorders. You will play a key role in helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with complex needs, ensuring their well-being and development in line with their individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment tailored to each student's needs
  • Use a variety of communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, AAC devices) to support students' language and social development
  • Support students with personal care, mobility, and feeding, where necessary
  • Promote positive behaviour, offering appropriate strategies to manage challenging situations
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure holistic care and support for the students
  • Keep accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents/carers

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with complex SEND, in a school or care setting.
  • Strong understanding of various SEND needs, including autism, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children who require additional support
  • Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent, are desirable but not essential
  • Training in specific interventions (e.g., Makaton, Team Teach, or moving and handling) is an advantage, but training can be provided for the right candidate
