We are currently working with a large 11 - 16 Academy in Runcorn to support them to recruit a permanent science technician.
The school are looking for a technician with a passion for science to support their busy science department working closely with the head of department and teachers to support the delivery of the curriculum. The school is ideally looking for someone with previous laboratory experience and a science qualification.
The role is term time only with 12 week holiday (school holidays) and actual salary is £22,345 - £23,114 per annum.
Your new role
In your new role as a science technician, you will be working under the direction of the Head of department and will be responsible for maintaining the classroom, stockroom and equipment.
Duties will include:
- Preparation of science materials and equipment for lessons
- Assisting teaching staff with science experiments and supporting students
- Responsible for Health and Safety across the department completing safety checks.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and organising repairs
- Responsible for management of stock and ordering new stock.
- Arranging apparatus including worksheets, books and aids to be available in rooms for lessons
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience of working within a laboratory setting
- Fun, energetic and passionate approach to working with children and science.
- A current enhanced DBS or willingness to get one
- Satisfactory references
