Public Sector Accountant (Staff Officer)
2 Year Fixed Term Contract | Enniskillen | £37,802 - £38,990
Reed Finance is partnered with a large public body in Enniskillen, in the appointment of a Staff Officer Accountant for fixed term contract of 24 months.
The primary focus of this role is to contribute to an efficient and effective finance function, supporting strategic financial management, liaising with senior managers on budget management, preparation of management accounts and support on annual financial statements.
Key responsibilities include;
- Produce management reports and variance analysis and maintain budget control through regular contact with budget holders
- Prepare budgets and scenario planning
- Assist in the planning and preparation of the draft Annual Accounts
- Assist in the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
- Contribute to enhanced systems and processes being implemented
- Support business case preparation where required
- Ensure financial policies and procedures are kept up to date where necessary
- Support an adequate system of internal control is operated
- Provide reports, returns and financial information as required
- Enhance current systems and implement new systems as required
- Complete all training as required within specified timeframes
Essential criteria:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAI) and at least 2 years' experience in a similar role, OR be a part-qualified accountant and at least 3 years' experience in a similar role, AND
- Hold a current driving licence
- Experience in the preparation of both management and year end accounts, preparing for audits, using a computerised accounts package and experience supervising staff
