A new exciting permanent Test Automation & Release Engineer role has become available working with a leading UK housing association where you will be instrumental in writing scripts and creating automation environments for automated testing. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about maximising test coverage using various automation tools and aims to automate as much of the testing effort as possible with minimal code.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • You will design, test, and deploy effective test automation solutions, focusing on System Integration Testing to ensure critical features of the system are covered.
  • Your goal is to automate as much of the testing effort as possible, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our testing processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build, run, maintain, and support automated test scripts for a software engineering pod.
  • Develop and manage test automation frameworks.
  • Log and document bugs in the tracking system.
  • Determine the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios.
  • Write comprehensive documentation for automated processes including test plans, test procedures, and test cases.
  • Manage releases between different environments.

Experience and Pre-Qualification Criteria

  • Competence with JavaScript (preferably TypeScript), C# .NET, or both.
  • Demonstrable experience with corresponding test automation frameworks such as: For JavaScript: Selenium, Playwright, Jest * For C#: NUnit, xUnit, MSTest
  • Proficiency with Git.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

Desirable:

  • Experience with EasyRepro.
  • Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Fluency with SQL (preferably T-SQL). Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Physical Chemistry is preferred.
