Full-time – 37.5 hours per week; 9.30am-5.30pm Monday–Friday (Alternative working arrangements including part-time hours will be considered)

My client is a specialist practice focusing on challenging decisions made by social services, including those affecting disabled or vulnerable individuals, children, and the elderly. They are known for their modern approach to legal aid and high standards of client care.

Position Overview:

My client is seeking an experienced and ambitious Community Care Solicitor to join their dynamic legal aid practice. The successful candidate will have a strong background in community care and public law, with a commitment to providing high-quality legal services to vulnerable individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all allotted casework promptly and efficiently.
  • Analyse legal matters and advise clients on appropriate courses of action.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with clients, adhering to client care standards.
  • Handle routine correspondence, negotiations, and advocacy as required.
  • Accurately record time spent on casework, ensure cases are billed, and payments are collected promptly.
  • Comply with Legal Aid Agency requirements for funded work.
  • Stay updated with legal developments relevant to community care and public law.
  • Provide supervision where appropriate and report to supervisors when needed.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' experience in community care and/or Court of Protection law.
  • Proven ability to handle diverse casework and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience working to targets.
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of Legal Aid funding and CCMS.
  • Current Practising Certificate.
  • Commitment to upholding the rights of vulnerable people and ensuring access to justice.

Desirable:

  • Experience in supervising team members.
  • Knowledge of current policies and legal aid schemes.
