Salt Recruitment is recruiting for a Local Government client in the Thames Valley that needs a Senior Procurement and Contracts Specialist on a contract basis to cover maternity leave. This position requires you to have Local Government experience, ideally in the Place and Growth Directorate.
Rate: £400-£450
Duration: 9-12 months
Location: Mostly from home but must be able to come onsite
Key responsibilities
- Support procurement activity to deliver the Council's strategic aims with a particular focus on delivery of priority project in the Place and Growth Directorate
- Work alongside Council colleagues including colleagues in the Place and Growth Directorate
- Develop an organisation wide performance management framework, including highlighting procurement and contract risks and opportunities, coordinate performance data from services
- Providing high quality procurement related support and advice.
- Explore innovative ways to deliver the Council's Plan outcomes.
Skills/qualifications and experience required
- Experience and excellent understanding of the Public Contracts regulations 2015 and the implications of the procurement act 2023
- Experience in local government procurement
- Relevant professional qualifications such as Chartered Institute of Procurement and supply or a recognised business qualification
- Strong IT skills specifically in PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience of using e-procurement software

- Working in a collaborative Corporate Procurement Team made up of Procurement and Contracts specialists
- Close working with stakeholders in the Place and Growth Directorate making an impact on priority procurement projects and driving savings
