The Company
For over 40 years, SQW Group has been helping leaders in the public and private sectors to devise and deliver policies and interventions that make a positive difference to businesses, communities and economies. We work across the UK and Ireland through 4 trading divisions. Our capabilities are divided into two key areas:
- Consultancy arm spread across three UK offices. SQW Limited provides research, analysis and advice on social and economic development.
- The provision of practical support to SMEs through the three parts of Oxford Innovation. We provide Space (via, currently, 32 Innovation Centres), Advice (through the running of business support contracts) and Finance (by running an Angel Investor Network and managing its own EIS Funds).
We're based in central Oxford (and other sites across the UK) with close access to public transport links.
The Role
The newly created Group IT Director post will report directly to the CFO, playing a critical role in the continued success and growth of the business (working in close collaboration with senior leaders across the Group).
You will have responsibility for the:
- Group IT systems and infrastructure: managing and working closely with the Group's IT team (provided by a 3rd party),
- IT support and service management: overseeing and ensuring the 3rd party IT support relationship is maintained, and continuing to provide excellent service to all parts of the Group,
- Strategic development of IT systems & processes: acting as a strategic IT Business Partner within the Group, seeking solutions and driving innovation / transformation, as well as technology adoption,
- Group cyber security: leading on cyber security projects and initiatives across the Group,
- Group data protection: playing a critical role in the Group's management of personal data in line with latest legislation, collaborating with teams across the Group as well as our DPO and other 3rd parties
About you
Applicants for the Group IT Director role will have the following qualities:
- a strong set of broad technical skills and up-to-date knowledge across IT infrastructure, cloud, networks, service delivery, and business applications,
- proven experience leading on cyber security initiatives and associated governance (e.g. Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO27001 etc.), coupled with experience of managing data protection / privacy activities,
- strong inter-personal and stakeholder management skills, being comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels,
- a passion and track record for driving innovation, with a keen interest in keeping up to date with the latest emerging technologies (including AI),
- a proven leader, with experience of effectively managing IT teams (including 3rd parties),
- flexibility and willingness to travel to other sites within the Group as and when required.
On offer
