Job Advertisement: Community Compliance Officer

Position Details:
- Contract Type: Temporary
- Contract Length: 3 months (likely extension)
- Working Pattern: Full Time (36 hours per week, with occasional Saturday shifts) (hybrid working 36 hours per week - mainly on district then enquiries/paperwork in office. There will also be occasional Saturday working.
- Hourly Rate: £21.72 per hour PAYE or £28.68 per hour Umbrella
- Driving Required: No
- DBS Check: Not required
Role Purpose:
As a Community Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Council's enforcement activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Enforcement Services: Addressing issues related to licencing, fly-tipping, waste on private property, graffiti, illegal street trading, litter, and more.
- Environmental & Highways Offences: Providing advice and guidance while managing and enforcing relevant legislation.
- Surveillance Operations: Coordinating and conducting both overt and covert surveillance as directed, ensuring compliance with the law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with law enforcement and partner agencies to tackle environmental crimes and anti-social behaviour.
- Investigate incidents of non-compliance, including littering, dog fouling, and illegal encampments.
- Conduct surveillance operations in accordance with legislation, including the Anti-Social Behaviour, Policing and Crime Act 2014 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
- Provide training and support to other teams and stakeholders.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong understanding of enforcement services, licencing compliance, and environmental crime investigation.
- Experience in conducting surveillance operations and working within health and safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with the community and partner agencies.
- A proactive approach to public consultation and data protection compliance.
