IT Helpdesk Apprentice

City of Glasgow College are the largest higher education colleges in the centre of Glasgow. We were founded in 2010 when the Central College, Glasgow Metropolitan College, and the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies merged.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated IT Support Apprentice to join our team. This will be an apprenticeship where the successful applicant will work towards a diploma with QA, receiving support and mentoring throughout the placement.

Overview:

As an apprentice you will help with first line IT support for students and staff across the college. It is a busy role that will require attention to detail but is important to the success of the whole team. The existing IT team will also be available to provide you with support and guidance as you learn your role and become more confident.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephone and remote support to users to record and resolve fault calls and service requests through the IT Service Desk
  • Provide first line installation support and maintenance for printing, unified communications, software packages and AV equipment
  • Assist with the setup of new IT equipment, including laptops, tablets, mobile devices and PCs
  • Enable and facilitate the college's cyber security measures through the use and deployment of effective technology such as anti-malware utilities and patch management for end user applications, platforms and devices
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment and software that is fully tracked for audit and license purposes

Desirable skills:

  • Good foundation knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • High standard of processing and numeracy
  • Strong keyboard skills
  • Can work well under pressure
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Excellent communicator at all levels
  • Good team player

Salary:

£21,840 per annum

Working hours:

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
