Business Development Manager

SIG Plc. is a leading supplier of specialist building materials to trade customers across Europe with strong positions in its core markets as a specialist distributor of insulation and interiors products and as a merchant of roofing and exteriors products.

We are currently looking to recruit a Business Development Manager who will manage a portfolio of customers within a given territory and focus on key accounts, develop, maintain, and grow sales and listen to customer feedback and help grow sales and develop new product ideas. Work alongside colleagues in the Technical/Specification/Project tracking teams to develop sales leads and enquiries and make our offer more attractive vs the competition.

This role will cover Southern England.

What does the role involve?

As Business Development Manager, you will manage a portfolio of customer within a territory, know your customers and be able to report back on your territory when required, develop new and existing accounts, and build relationships and understand what your customer wants. You will also increase sales and margin, ensure price increases are driven through to customers, while also identifying route to market with end-users and distribution to pass leads/enquiries.

The successful candidate will also maintain quality CRM records and use PowerBI to understand where you're against your targets, support and communicate effectively with the other internal teams such as internal sales, Project tracking and the NPD teams.

The successful candidate will require:

  • GCSE Mathematics and English (preferable)
  • Good data accuracy
  • Good level of numeracy and IT skills
  • Previous external sales experience (preferable but not essential)
  • General construction knowledge
  • Competitor knowledge
  • Motivator/Target driven
  • Great relationship builder
  • Team Player
