Your New Job Role

As a Residential Childcare Officer, you will work under the guidance of the Manager and Deputy Manager to provide direct care to young people aged 11-17 or 6-18. Your responsibilities will include administering the home in the absence of senior staff, implementing and monitoring Personal Plans, participating in household duties, and supporting the personal and educational development of young people. You will also ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies, maintain accurate records, and promote a safe and inclusive environment.

What You Will Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A Disclosure and Barring Service check
  • Registration with Social Care Wales
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and undertake sleeping-in duties
  • Ability to administer the home in line with policies and legislation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with young people
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Computer literacy to operate the Council's IT programmes and management databases
  • Full UK Driving Licence and business insurance

(£13.47 per hour before 8pm on weekdays, £17.51 per hour after 8pm on weekdays and £20.25 per hour for weekends)
