Abingdon Preparatory School has an exciting opportunity for a School Secretary to join the team.

Location: Frilford, Oxfordshire, OX13 5NX

Salary: £25,230 to £26,766 pro rata (£29,460 to £31,253 Full Time Equivalent salary) per year depending on skills and experience.

Schedule: The hours of work are 9.30am to 6.00pm on a term time plus basis (34 weeks during term time plus 5 weeks during school holidays).

Abingdon Preparatory School is a thriving independent day school for pupils aged 4 to 13, located in the picturesque Oxfordshire village of Frilford Heath.

School Secretary – The Role:

Abingdon Prep School is seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced School Secretary to be part of the administrative team in the main School Office. The role is front facing for parents, pupils and staff and as such the post holder will receive visitors to the School and act as a suitable ambassador.

School Secretary – Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first port of call for parental and other visitor inquiries
  • Answer School Office telephone calls efficiently
  • Handle post, deliveries, and supplies for the photocopiers
  • Assist with distribution of school reports and information to parents via e-mail and database
  • Regularly update information on internal television screens
  • Manage school cameras and phones, uploading photographs to relevant locations
  • Act as qualified Paediatric First Aider and support the School Nurse
  • Support electronic pupil registration, dealing with late pupils and contacting the parents of absent students

High levels of organisation, computer literacy and excellent interpersonal skills are essential criteria for candidates. These skills, alongside a warm and friendly disposition are needed for this busy and varied role at the heart of our vibrant school community.
